How Long To Breastfeed?

Apr 04, 2011 No Comments by

A working mother can combine breastfeeding with bottle-feeding. Ideally a baby should be breastfed for 2 years; or, for a minimum of 6 months.

Some mothers feed for 1 year or 8 months.

The reason why breastfeeding is recommended for 2 years is that it gives the baby greater immunity to fight infection during the teething phase. At that time the baby will also be eating other food, and breastfeeding maybe done just once or twice a day. Also, if the mother is an air hostess or a doctor, her duty hours could be 24 hours or longer, so that the bottle will have to be resorted to.
